At Longfellow Middle School, we offer an immersive and engaging International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. We extend our commitment beyond academics, encouraging students to involve themselves in extracurricular and co-curricular activities, as well as serving others in their community. The IB program enables students to direct their own learning pathway and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive and make a lasting difference in both their local and global communities. IB Middle Years Programming – MYP

Students are required to take a course in each of eight subject areas - language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education and design. Courses are developed using the IB's unit-planning framework. This structure requires teachers and planning teams to develop a guiding inquiry question; design formative and summative assessments; identify key related concepts that link together courses; and implement writing and analysis across all subject areas.

Art and music options are offered to students at all IPS schools. At the middle school level, arts are a core requirement of IB curriculum and integrated into STEM programming.

*All sport practices/clubs/activities take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-5:30. IPS provides transportation home or parents can pick the student up. All game schedules are made by IPS Athletics and can take place on various days of the week.
